Occasionally, I’m called upon for newborn photography for in- home sessions in The Woodlands. During those first two weeks, newborns are so tiny, wrinkly, and sweet, that I cannot turn them down. I just want you to know that when you call on me for this, you can expect a pretty laid back experience. We’re not going to do any super awkward poses or spend 30 minutes trying to “get a shot.” I just want to document these fleeting moments of you and your tiny baby in your home as it is.
Peyton found me through a mutual friend, and I’m so happy she did! 4 boys! Can you imagine the momma love in this house? but it has crossed my mind how much food and laundry she’s going to go through when they’re all teenagers. The horror!
My favorite moment was sweet Dean (boy #3) told me he was going to go hunt bullfrogs that night. When I asked him how many he thought he would catch, he told me….”well I have 4 pockets, so…..”
Adorable, that’s all I have to say.
But, back to babies. I love a good froggy pose like the best of them, but to be honest, these types of newborn sessions are meant to be held in a studio. If you want a relaxed in-home newborn photography session, but you also want a little bit of posing, we can do this! You’ll need to give me examples of what you would like, and I’ll come up with something that we can do in-home that will blend with your lifestyle session.
I can provide some props, wool flokati, and wraps for your session that are classic and work well with most scenes. You should consider purchasing a wrap or two before your session that will coordinate with your family’s outfits or home colors. I love Luneberry (kind of local!), which has beautifully curated headbands, bonnets, wraps and textures. Etsy is also always such a good place to find something unique. Send me a message before buying something for your shoot, and I will always give you my honest opinion.
Using items you already have in your home is special! Maybe an heirloom quilt, or a throw blanket that your family has used for years. I have photos that I took of my son (now almost 9!) as a newborn, wrapped in this cream blanket that we currently display on our sofa. That blanket is an authentic part of our life, and I’m glad we used it in his photos! – That is lifestyle photography at its finest! Newborn, in home photography should always reflect your family’s true life and capture real moments with your baby in The Woodlands.
Another reason to book an at home newborn photography session in The Woodlands. The family dog can get in on the action! Or cat, gerbil, bird, or lizard. I don’t know about fish, but I’m sure we could make it work.
Hands are the best props, in my honest opinion.
