There’s something about Maternity photography in The Woodlands, in this forest that always works. True confession, before the session I arrived early (as I do for all sessions) and had a walk around to re-acquaint myself with the Forest in winter. She’s different every season, and I do love that about her (the Forest is female, right?!) Anyway, I had a walk around. I was pretty horrified that I had even suggested it as a location, as everything appeared dead and gray. I almost cried.
But as you can see, baby pine trees are green! and the light! As long as we follow the light, magic can be found even in a dead, gray forest. The light in this moment below is some of my favorite ever. About two hours before sunset (this is why I prefer to start a session early) we’ll get this glow (that will almost outshine her glow – but not quite!)
While this isn’t my absolute favorite location, the reason I love WG Jones State Forest in The Woodlands for maternity, families, engagements, and portraits for the variety. Ponds, check! sparkling light, check! Dense forest, check! long grasses, check! dusty trails, check! big trees, check! I mean, there’s certainly a reason this is such a popular spot among all of Houston for photography. (I guess this is the biggest con here).
Like a fairytale, these two!
Isn’t she the glowy-est mom to be? I still can’t believe this Maternity Photography session in The Woodlands was in the dead of winter! Those greens make me think of spring!
